Famous Pobeda Peak, Khan-Tengri Peak and Lenin Peak as well as some other popular mountaineering areas (Western Kokshal-Too, Torugart-Too and others) are located in border zone where access is allowed with border permit only.

Paper work takes 6 weeks, and full prepayment is required. Officially urgent paper work is not possible so please plan your trip accordingly.

The following passport data is necessary for border permit:

- full name (as in passport)

- date of birth

- passport number

- citizenship

- date of passport expire

- area and dates of travel in Kyrgyzstan

In most cases your border permit should be collected in our office in Bishkek. Climbers who booked Lenin Peak expeditions with us can receive their permits either in Osh or in the Base Camp.

For tourists and climbers going to adventure trips - trekking, mountain bike, ski touring, heli-ski and mountaineering programmes - we strongly recommend to have medical insurance of EUR 20 000 and it should cover helicopter costs for evacuation, if any.

In Kyrgyzstan state free Mountain Rescue Service does not exist. And in case of emergency all necessary service for injured person can be provided only on basis of prepaid or guaranty of payment. Proper medical insurance can be such guarantee of payment. 

We kindly ask all tourists and climbers booking the adventure trips, to send us copy of insurance policy 2 weeks prior arrival to Kyrgyzstan. We need just pages with information on insured person(-s), details on insurance plan (what is covered), and contact info of insurance company. 

As soon as information on insurance is received we register tourists and climbers in local private Mountain Rescue Service. Then in case of emergency, search, rescue, evacuation and transportation can be conducted without delays on finding out the details on insurance and confirmation of payment.

In Kyrgyzstan to get proper medical insurance policy for foreign tourists and climbers who are going to adventure trips to the mountains, is not possible unfortunately.
